Heartwood

$904.70

From my series of tree painting entitled The “Keepers”
“The Keepers” are trees which protect and safeguard a variety of precious intangibles such as healing, wisdom, and memories. Trees are connected through their roots and protect, feed, heal, and communicate with each other. Each tree in the series will be the keeper of a single concept within its roots or trunk.
This tree is called Heartwood because of the red seen in the hollow part of the trunk – the red represents life. The golden seeds protected within the roots are the promise of future life.
The background is painted using encaustics into which I incise the outlines. I then rub oil paint into the lines and add extra detail to the tree with oil paint as well.
