Shawn Conn

Shawn Conn’s life began like something out of a Greek tragedy. He was born during a sudden snowstorm; breech, wedged in the birth canal, being suffocated by his own umbilical cord, as his mother lie, bleeding to death. A quick yank on both of his legs and one broken arm later and Shawn was well on the path of the proverbial, tortured artist. After 3 years at the Rochester Institute of Technology, studying painting and illustration under the tutelage of mentors like Judd Williams, Steve Loar and Fred Meyer, Shawn served 4 years in the Army. After his time, in the Army, Shawn has spent the last 25 years of his life as a successful tattooist and freelance illustrator, but he has never veered far from his first love, of painting. In 2006, Shawn began to paint fervently, working to define his style and his artistic voice. Shawn quickly began to exhibit in numerous group shows in the United States, as well as Denmark and Thailand. After 2009, Shawn felt his work was becoming forced and uninspired, for the sake of entering numerous shows. So, he limited his submissions to shows, and spent the next several years redefining his style and impetus for painting. In 2017, he reemerged with a renewed vigor and defined purpose for his painting. Shawn also introduced oil painting into his creative arsenal and began experimenting with integrating traditional art with digital art in response to society’s explosive embrace of technology.

Jamaican Dreams

$1,146.59

My honeymoon was in Jamaica. My 1st time in the Caribbean and I fell in love with the tropics. One day, I noticed my wife had this dreamy countenance, as she stared out at the ocean. I knew that there was a longing desire for the Caribbean life behind that unaware stare, as I felt it too. We are twin flames of the same soul, her and I. And as our black and white dreams come into the vivid color of reality, so too do our lives become more entwined, for eternity.
